Natural food is common sense
The basic idea of organic farming and processing is to produce healthy food in a sustainable way.
Therefore, the organic berries and fruit grower does not have the pesticides available as the conventional farmer.
Also, in the processing of organic products, it is only legal to use a very limited number of additives that otherwise
are allowed in other foods.
Organic foods are produced according to principles that respect the environment and animal welfare.
Organic production principles help to reduce the overall chemical load of our nature. It is all common sense.
A healthier choice
It has long been one of faith if organic food is healthier than conventionally produced food, but now a large EU-funded research project to clarify the difference between organic and conventionally grown foods has at least proved that grains, fruits and vegetables grown organically contain more antioxidants and also several more minerals.
In study after study, research from independent organizations consistently shows organic food is higher in nutrients than traditional foods. Research shows that organic produce is higher in vitamin C, antioxidants, and the minerals calcium, iron, chromium, and magnesium.
Organic food has a higher concentration of so-called flavonoids, which act as natural antioxidants. The antioxidants, that are supposed to have a beneficial effect to the human body, are very important in your everyday diet. Nutritionists recommend at least 6 pieces of fruit and vegetables every day to increase the intake of antioxidants. In fact, the increased concentration of antioxidants in organic products has caused the researchers to conclude that the benefits of organics are so large that it is equivalent to eating an extra portion of fruit and vegetables every day.
Choose organic food for your children
Organic food are supportive of children's positive growth
Organic foods are free of neurotoxins—toxins that are damaging to brain and nerve cells.
That is why organic foods are supportive of growing children’s brains and bodies. Children’s growing brains and bodies are far more susceptible to toxins than adults. Choosing organic helps feed their bodies without the exposure to pesticides and genetically-modified organisms, both of which have a relatively short history of use and therefore no evidence of safety.
Good economy
Ecology equals the same as economy. Nature’s ecological cycle must be right otherwise everything will go wrong. When you cultivate the ground you borrow natural resources and when you plant a seed in the ground you expect a plant or a crop later. But this plant is made up of nutrients it receives from the ground. Therefore, when you harvest the plant and eat it you remove nutrients from the soil which you are obligated to bring back somehow.
It is the cornerstone of organic farming that the numbers should add up so one has to pay back the amount of nutrients, which has been removed. This is the purpose of natural manure from pigs, cows, horses, sheep, chickens, etc., and plant compost. In addition, organic farmers usually use extended crop rotation - typically seven years of rotation. If the field one year has had potatoes in the ground preferably you wait at least seven years before you successfully can expect to make decent potatoes on the field again.
In between the seven years of potato cultivation you can instead cultivate cabbage, lettuce, onions, corn, carrots or let it lie fallow. Brackish means that the earth rests a year where you typically sow a clover crop. Only few plants are in a position to feed the soil nutrients and clover is one of them. Organic food simply supports greater biodiversity and diversity is fundamental to life on this planet.
A clean conscience
Ecology also means animal welfare. It sounds logical that animals need space and should be able to live a decent life, but it is far from the case everywhere. The regulations of organic farming make sure that the animals are being treated decently. Organic food also supports wildlife habitats. Even with commonly used amounts of pesticides, wildlife is being harmed by exposure to pesticides. This is not the case with organic farming.
By thinking, acting and eating organic every day we are one step further in the right direction towards a healthier life in every way.
